The Fanbeam Micro-CT was developed specifically for animal Histomorphometry; small object imaging. It is designed to scan excised bone, or other objects, at extremely high resolution. The system has been optimized for in-vitro scanning in preclinical and pharmaceutical research.

A combination of high mechanical precision and very small source-to-center distance allows acquisition of extremely high resolution images with substantial detail. With voxel resolution as low as 15 microns, individual trabecular spicule can be viewed. This resolution is necessary in studies requiring a great level of visual acuity, such as bone biopsy and bone strength studies including connectivity of trabecular and cortical bone compartments. It is also useful when looking at changes that are induced in the epiphysis or cortical compartments. The XCT Microscope provides the visual, and quantitative precision for these highly specialized studies.
